Refund policy

 

At BGT4X4, we stand behind the quality of our products and want you to feel confident when purchasing from us. As a small, family-run business, this policy is designed to be fair, transparent, and easy to understand while remaining compliant with Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

This policy does not limit your rights under the ACL.

1. Change of Mind Returns (30 Days)

As a courtesy, BGT4X4 offers a 30-day change-of-mind return period from the purchase date.

Return Options:

Store Credit (Recommended Option)

  • Returns for store credit incur no restocking fees*
  • Return shipping is at the customer’s expense
  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable

Store credit allows us to offer flexibility while helping support us as a small business.

*A 15% restocking fee may still be charged for supplier-shipped products as they themselves charge restocking fees (e.g., bull bars)

Refund to Original Payment Method

  • A 15% restocking & processing fee applies
  • This helps cover non-refundable payment gateway charges, handling, inspection, and administrative costs
  • Return shipping is at the customer’s expense
  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable

This fee does not apply to items that are faulty, incorrect, or do not meet Australian Consumer Law guarantees.

To Be Eligible

Items must be returned in fully resaleable condition. We reserve the right to refuse any return that does not meet the following criteria:

  • Unused, uninstalled, and undamaged
  • Returned in original packaging
  • All included accessories and components present
  • Returned within 30 days of order date

Incomplete Returns: Items received missing components, accessories, or original packaging will not be accepted and no refund will be issued. If your return is rejected, we will notify you and the item(s) will be available for return shipping back to you at your cost.

2. Order Cancellations (Prior to Shipment)

We understand that sometimes plans change and you may need to cancel an order. We always do our best to help where possible.

However, please note that cancellations are not always possible once an order has been placed, as work begins behind the scenes almost immediately.

This may include:

  • Stock being picked and set aside for your order
  • Orders being placed or committed with our suppliers
  • Payment gateway and platform processing fees being charged to us (these are often non-refundable)

If Cancellation Is Possible

Store Credit

  • Order cancellations approved prior to shipment can be issued as store credit with no fees

Refund to Original Payment Method

  • A 15% processing fee will apply to help cover non-refundable payment, handling, and administrative costs already incurred

  • Restocking fees are charged for unclaimed goods returned to sender also.

When Cancellations May Not Be Possible

  • The order has already been packed or prepared for dispatch
  • A supplier order has already been placed
  • The item is a special-order, pre-order, or supplier-shipped product

In these situations, the order may proceed as planned, or standard return terms will apply once the item has been delivered.

We always encourage customers to contact us as soon as possible if a cancellation is needed so we can assist before further costs are incurred.

3. Items Not Eligible for Change of Mind Returns

  • Clearance sale items
  • Gift cards
  • Items marked as non-returnable or final sale
  • Bundles returned partially (bundles must be returned in full)

4. Inspection of Goods

We kindly request that all products are inspected within 14 days of delivery. This includes checking:

  • Correct item supplied
  • Visible damage
  • Obvious defects

Claims raised outside this timeframe may be assessed on a case-by-case basis in line with ACL.

5. Fitment & Vehicle Variations

Our products are designed to suit specific vehicles as advertised. Please note:

  • Minor variations in fitment can occur due to:
  • Vehicle manufacturing tolerances
  • Prior modifications
  • Accessories fitted to the vehicle

A product that functions as intended and is fit for purpose is not considered faulty due to minor fitment variation.

6. Damaged, Used or Installed Products

We cannot offer refunds or replacements where:

  • Products are damaged due to installation, attempted installation, misuse, or modification
  • Installation or use continues after identifying a potential issue
  • Damage is not related to a manufacturing defect

If a product is installed or used despite being damaged or unfit on arrival, eligibility for a refund may be void.

7. Faulty or Incorrect Items

If you believe you’ve received a faulty or incorrect item:

  • Contact us immediately
  • Provide clear photos or videos
  • Do not install the product until we’ve assessed the issue
  • We’ll work with you to resolve the issue in line with ACL.

8. Refund Process

Once a return is received and inspected:

  • Approved refunds are processed within 5 business days
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method (less any applicable restocking fee for change-of-mind returns)
  • Banks may take additional time to finalise processing
  • Shipping fees are non-refundable.

9. International Orders

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs
  • Customs approvals and payable duties are the customer’s responsibility
  • If goods are rejected by customs and returned to us, only the product value will be refunded
  • Shipping costs are non-refundable
  • In case of refusal or when goods are not claimed and subsequently returned to sender, a 15% restocking fee will be charged.

10. Professional Installation Disclaimer

BGT4X4 is not responsible for:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Installation by unqualified persons
  • Damage caused by improper fitting

Any loss resulting from incorrect installation may void warranty and refund eligibility.
