Warranty, Installation & Product Support Policy
At BGT4X4, we stand behind the products we sell. If something isn’t right, please get in touch and we’ll work with you to understand the issue and determine the appropriate next steps.
This policy outlines our warranty coverage, installation requirements, product fitment and claims process.
Australian Consumer Law
Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Any warranty offered by BGT4X4 or a product manufacturer is provided in addition to your rights under the ACL. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Warranty Coverage
Unless otherwise stated on the individual product page, BGT4X4-branded products are covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects from the date the product is delivered or collected. Third-party brands have their own warranty periods.
Some products have different or extended warranty periods. Where this applies, the warranty stated on the individual product page will take priority.
Our warranty covers genuine defects in materials or workmanship that arise during normal and intended use.
What Isn't Covered
Unless required under Australian Consumer Law, our voluntary warranty does not cover damage, deterioration or failure caused or contributed to by:
- Incorrect or improper installation
- Failure to follow supplied installation instructions or recommendations
- Misuse, abuse or use outside the product's intended purpose
- Accidents, impacts or accidental damage
- Vehicle faults or defects
- Vehicle modifications or other accessories that interfere with the product
- Exceeding stated load, weight or operating limits
- Unauthorised modifications to the product
- Normal wear and tear
- Normal cosmetic deterioration, fading or ageing
- Inadequate maintenance or neglect
- Environmental damage beyond what would reasonably be expected for the product's intended use
Products that have been cut, drilled, welded, ground, rewired or otherwise altered outside the supplied or approved installation method may not be covered where that modification caused or contributed to the issue.
Normal recreational off-road use is not automatically considered misuse where a product is advertised or intended for off-road use. However, damage caused by use beyond the product's advertised purpose, stated capacity or reasonable operating limits is not covered by our voluntary warranty.
Installation
Professional installation is always recommended, particularly for products involving mechanical, electrical or drivetrain components, technical installation or vehicle modification.
Where professional installation is specifically required, this will be stated on the product page or installation information. Installation must then be completed by an appropriately qualified professional for the type of work being performed.
Evidence of professional installation may be required as part of a warranty claim. This may include an invoice, receipt, installer details or installation date.
Products must be installed in accordance with applicable instructions, which may include supplied documentation, product-page information, installation guides and BGT4X4 installation videos.
If something doesn't appear correct during installation, stop and contact us before continuing.
Damage caused or contributed to by incorrect installation, or by continuing installation after an obvious issue has been identified, may not be covered.
Product Fitment & Vehicle Compatibility
Our products are designed to suit the vehicles and variants advertised on the relevant product page.
Fitment can sometimes vary due to:
- Vehicle manufacturing tolerances
- Differences between model years or variants
- Previous vehicle modifications or repairs
- Aftermarket accessories already fitted to the vehicle
Customers are responsible for considering modifications or accessories that may affect compatibility. If you ask us to confirm fitment for a modified vehicle, please let us know about any relevant modifications.
Minor cosmetic or dimensional variations that do not materially affect correct installation, safety, functionality or the advertised purpose of the product are not generally considered product faults.
If you're unsure about compatibility, please contact us before purchasing or installing the product.
Incorrect, Damaged or Faulty Items on Arrival
Please inspect your order when it arrives.
We ask that you notify us within 14 days of delivery, where reasonably possible, if you discover:
- An incorrect item
- Transit damage
- Missing parts or components
- An obvious manufacturing defect
The 14-day inspection period does not limit any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law for faults that become apparent later.
If an item arrives incorrect or damaged, please do not install, modify or use it before contacting us. Continuing to install or use an item after an obvious issue has been identified may affect the available remedy where doing so causes additional damage.
Making a Warranty Claim
If you believe a product has developed a fault, please contact us at info@bgt4x4.com.au within 7 days with your order number or proof of purchase and a description of the issue.
Depending on the product and issue, we may request:
- Photos or videos
- Vehicle make, model, year and variant
- Relevant vehicle modifications
- Installation details and proof of professional installation where required
- Installation date and relevant vehicle kilometres
- Details of when and how the issue occurred
- Reasonable troubleshooting or testing
- Return of the product or affected component for inspection
If a potential fault could cause further damage or create a safety risk, stop using the product and contact us before continuing.
Additional damage caused by continuing to use a product after a fault or potential safety issue has become apparent may not be covered by our voluntary warranty.
Assessment, Costs & Remedies
Not every product issue necessarily means the product itself is faulty. We may need to troubleshoot or inspect the product to determine whether an issue relates to the product, installation, vehicle, another component or an external cause.
Where a genuine fault covered by our voluntary warranty is confirmed, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement or another suitable resolution.
If a returned product is assessed and no covered fault is found, or the issue is found to have been caused by something outside warranty coverage, reasonable freight, inspection or return costs may apply where permitted by law.
Labour costs associated with diagnosis, installation, removal or reinstallation are not covered by our voluntary product warranty unless expressly stated or required by law.
Our voluntary warranty also does not automatically cover damage to vehicles, other components, property or other consequential losses. Nothing in this policy excludes any rights to compensation or other remedies that may apply under Australian Consumer Law.
Shipping and transport costs relating to genuine faulty products will be handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Product Use & Road Compliance
Some products may be intended for off-road use only or may be subject to vehicle modification or road-use requirements.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that products, accessories and vehicle modifications comply with applicable laws, regulations and vehicle standards for their location and intended use.
Where appropriate, we recommend obtaining advice from an appropriately qualified professional or relevant authority.
E-Locker – 7-Year Warranty
BGT4X4 E-Lockers are covered by a 7-year voluntary warranty against manufacturing defects from the date the product is delivered or collected.
The general terms of this Warranty Policy also apply to E-Lockers, with the following additional requirements.
Professional Installation Required
E-Lockers must be installed by an appropriately qualified mechanic or differential specialist.
Proof of professional installation will be required for warranty claims.
Installation must be completed in accordance with the supplied instructions, specifications and applicable differential setup requirements.
E-Locker Exclusions
Our E-Lockers are built for recreational off-road use. Normal off-road use does not void your warranty.
However, a differential locker is a drivetrain component and can be damaged when subjected to excessive shock loads, vehicle abuse or operation beyond reasonable limits.
In addition to the general warranty exclusions above, the 7-year E-Locker warranty does not cover damage or failure caused or contributed to by:
- Incorrect installation, adjustment, clearances or differential setup
- Installation that does not meet the professional installation requirement
- Misuse, abuse or excessively harsh operation of the vehicle
- Excessive wheel spin, particularly where a spinning wheel suddenly regains traction
- Shock loading or severe impact loads through the drivetrain
- Aggressive driving or repeated attempts at obstacles where excessive loads are placed on the differential or locker
- Operating the locker in a manner inconsistent with its intended use
- Damage to locker components, gears or associated parts resulting from misuse, abuse or excessive drivetrain loads
- Vehicle, differential, axle, CV, bearing or other drivetrain faults that cause or contribute to damage to the locker
- Failure of other drivetrain components
- Inadequate lubrication, incorrect lubricant, maintenance or servicing
- Unauthorised modification of the E-Locker or associated components
- Continued operation after abnormal noises, behaviour or a potential fault becomes apparent, where this causes additional damage
Evidence of physical damage consistent with impact, shock loading, misuse or excessive drivetrain loads may be considered when assessing the cause of a warranty claim.
The warranty is intended to protect customers against manufacturing defects, not damage caused by pushing the vehicle or drivetrain beyond reasonable operating limits.
